SURFACE

THE DEAD GO TO SURFACE.

THE LIVING MUST NEVER FOLLOW.

They are born below, with no memory of the sky and no permission to see it.

The Leader has the only key, a wall of speakers and an answer for every question except what waits beyond the door.

Together they live out their whole lives beneath the earth — working, marrying, raising children, growing old, grieving their dead, breaking rules for one another and trying not to wonder whether the door is keeping death out or keeping them in.

EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT SURFACE MEANS.

Nobody knows whether any of it is true.

SURFACE is a story about a cult with no proof the danger is real and no safe way to find out.

The filters keep running.

The people keep praying.

The door stays shut.
